Sustainability Story
What are we doing at Nutshell to be more sustainable?
At Nutshell, sustainability isn’t a slogan — it’s the foundation of why we exist.
The world doesn’t need more disposable bags. It needs better ones: designed with intention, made responsibly, and built to last.

1. What are better materials for sustainable bags?
Every Nutshell product begins with the fabric. We use certified organic and recycled cotton, chosen to reduce environmental impact from the start. Our ranges are GOTS and GRS certified, ensuring responsible production, verified recycled content, and full supply chain transparency.
Organic cotton uses less water and avoids toxic pesticides, while recycled cotton keeps waste out of landfill and reduces the need for virgin fibre. We choose natural fabrics because they look better, last longer, and age beautifully — with no plastic sheen or polyester blends. -
2. What does traceability mean in sustainable products?
We don’t believe in vague “eco-friendly” claims. Our certifications cover the full journey — from fibre sourcing and environmental impact to ethical working standards and restricted chemicals.
Every product is fully traceable, from seed to spinning, stitching, and the final bag in your hands. -
3. What makes a bag last longer?
Sustainability isn’t just about fibres — it’s about usefulness. We design every bag with purpose, from reinforced handles and weight-tested construction to timeless silhouettes that don’t date.
The goal is simple: bags that are chosen, kept, loved, and reused — not thrown away. -
4. How are our bags made to be yours?
Whether you’re a business, brand, or individual, Nutshell bags are designed to showcase who you are.
Our range is made for customisation and bespoke printing, with a variety of shapes and weights — from totes and shoppers to wine bags, lunch bags, and drawstrings — alongside a considered colour palette that works across every brand and aesthetic.
We’re building a world where sustainability isn’t beige, but modern, expressive, and on-brand. -
5. What does responsible production mean for bags?
We work closely with audited factories that share our values, building long-term relationships with manufacturers who prioritise fair working conditions, safe environments, living-wage compliance, and transparent communication.
We don’t see sustainability as a marketing line — we see it as a responsibility to people. -
6. How are bags continuously improved?
Sustainability isn’t a finish line — it’s a journey. We’re constantly reviewing new fabric innovations, reducing packaging, improving carbon efficiency, and refining small details like care labels and printing techniques to minimise waste.
As we grow, so does our impact, which is why we hold ourselves accountable every step of the way.
In a Nutshell
We make thoughtful, durable, consciously crafted bags that help people reduce single-use waste without compromising on style.
Certified materials. Transparent production. Bags built to last.
Sustainability is not something we say — it’s something we do, every day.
